Heavy rains in late December 2007 caused flooding and landslides in Bali that have been linked to at least two deaths of villagers in Tegalalang, north of Ubud. Also of spiritual concern to local Balinese Hindus was the damage caused by recent inclement weather to several religious temples across the Island.
